Interstate Adoption

An interstate adoption is when an adoption occurs where the Expectant Birth Parents and the Prospective Adoptive Family live in different states. Adoptive families are often willing to broaden their geographical scope when looking for a child to adopt. The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) governs all interstate adoptions. In an interstate adoption, AOW can provide the following services:
 
  • Home Study for Prospective Adoptive Families in Wisconsin  
  • Expectant Birth Parents Counseling and Services
  • Prospective Adopting Families Counseling and Services
  • Post Placement Services
  • Preparation of ICPC Materials
  • Guardianship
  • Finalization Report
