Expectant Birth Parent Services
Adoptions of Wisconsin will help you explore all of the options available to you during your pregnancy and after the birth. Your social worker will talk with you frequently and come to your home to meet with you face to face as often as needed or requested. Your social worker is your support person in making your choice. If you should decide to parent, your social worker will help you apply for needed services and prepare you emotionally and physically for that choice. If you should decide adoption is right for you, your social worker will walk you through that process step by step as well. There are also other placement alternatives that may be available to you and your social worker will help you create the individual plan that works best for you and your family.
Adoption
Adoption is a legal process in which you, as a parent, terminate, or end your legal rights to your child and the adoptive parents take on the responsibility of raising the child.
Adoptions of Wisconsin encourages all of their expectant birth parents to carefully review and select a family that matches exactly what you are looking for. You will be able to learn about our waiting couples by paging through detailed profiles (created by the couples themselves). Brief captions are available online under the Waiting Families heading. The profiles tell you about their relationships, family, childhood, home, careers, hobbies, and what they hope to offer their adopted child.
All of our waiting couples have been studied to determine what type of home they can provide a child. They all meet state regulations set for adoptive parents, as well as agency regulations, including background checks, medical checks, health of their relationship and individual psychological health.
Please see Frequently Asked Questions to read some of the common issues that we have heard and responded to from expectant birth parents in the past.
Please bring any questions or concerns regarding the above information to your social worker. Your social worker can be very helpful to you in your worries about the unknown. The support from you social worker often continues for many years after the birth of your child.
