Birth Parent Expenses

Birth Parent Expenses may be paid to or on behalf of Expectant Birth Parents and in compliance with Wisconsin Law. Social workers complete a financial assessment with Birth Parents requesting assisstance.
 
Assistance with living expenses is allowed for the following (State of Wisconsin):
  • Pre and post adoptive counseling for the Birth Mother of the child and alleged or presumed Birth Father of the child.
  • Services provided by a licensed child welfare agency in connection with the adoption.
  • Birth Mother's living expenses necessary to protect the health and welfare of the mother or child.  All living expenses must be reported to the court at the time of the termination of parental rights. (TPR)
  • Maternity clothes for the child's Birth Mother that are directly purchased by the Social Worker or reimbursement of a Birth Mother's documented costs.
  • Gift(s) to the Birth Parent (value is limited by state law).
  • Local transportation expenses for the Birth Parents of the child related to the pregnancy and adoption.
  • Medical and hospital care of the mother and child related to the birth and pregnancy.
  • Legal services of the expectant or Birth Parent of the child in connection with the adoption.
