Living Expenses and Gifts to Expectant or Birth Parents making an Adoption Plan Assistance with Living Expenses is allowed for the following (State of Wisconsin):

      Pre and Post Adoptive counseling for an expectant or birth mother of the child and alleged or presumed father of the child.
      Services Provided by a licensed child welfare agency in connection with the adoption.
      Expectant mother's or birth mother's living expenses necessary to protect the health and welfare of the mother or child. Your social worker will assess, with you, what is allowable under WI Stats. 48.913. All living expenses must be reported to the court at the time of the termination of parental rights.
      Maternity clothes for the child's birth mother that are directly purchased with your social worker or reimbursement of your documented costs.

Birth Parent expenses may be paid to or on behalf of birth parents and in compliance with Wisconsin Law. Social workers complete financial assessment with birth parents requesting such assistance and a copy will be provided to you.  You may be asked by AOW to pay such expenses directly or to provide such amounts to the agency. In most cases AOW will attempt to inform adoptive parents before financial assistance is provided, however in some cases this is not possible and assistance will be provided prior to informing the adoptive parents. All birth parents expenses are paid with the understanding that PROVIDING THIS ASSISTANCE IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF PLACEMENT OR ADOPTION.
